Meet Alan Powell
Born and raised in the same part of Northeast Georgia he represents today, Representative Alan Powell has served in the Georgia House since 1990.
As a public servant, Alan has devoted his time to advocating for fiscal conservatism and governmental operations reform. He has a passion for what he calls "pothole policy" - changes to the law and public policy's that make a big difference in peoples' day-to-day lives and how government operates.
He also prides himself on his dedication to fiscal restraint and truth in budgeting, often voting against state budgets that he felt were not fiscally responsible. In over 20 years in the Georgia House, Alan has never voted for a tax increase, while his legislation has streamlined government, saving millions for Georgia taxpayers.
Today, Alan serves on the Appropriations, Governmental Affairs, Motor Vehicles, and Regulated Industries Committees in the House. He also brings decades of experience as a business owner and entrepreneur to the Special Committee on Small Business Development and Job Creation.
Prior to his service in the Georgia House of Representatives, Alan served as Chairman of the Hart County Board of Commissioners. He has also served on the Board of Health, Economic Development Authority, and Industrial Building Authority in Hart County.
