Zer Based Budgeting

One of the biggest disappointments of this session was the failure of passage of legislation (HB 33 or SB 33) that would implement zero-based budgeting, the mandatory process of scrutinizing the state budget for inefficiencies and obsolete programs throughout all state agencies. The best way to cut taxes is to cut unnecessary spending by prioritizing spending and eliminating waste and duplication.

HB 77 - Supplemental Budget Reflects Recent Growth in Revenues

The Georgia House of Representatives voted February 9th to approve an amended budget for the remainder of fiscal year 2011, which ends June 30. HB 77 adjusts the total budget for the current fiscal year to $18.1 billion.

‘Arizona-style’ crackdown on illegal immigration proposed for Georgia

The House of Representatives is considering proposed legislation to crack down on illegal immigrants in Georgia, using a law enacted last year in Arizona as a model.
